    March 22nd
    Bar Tab Band
    Green Bay, WI

    Hip-Twangy Countrifried Rock-N-Jam.
It all began with bar room conversations between Troy and David about the raw roots alt-country music scene they had been introduced to, which included such bands as Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Gram Parsons and Steve Earle. Throw in a love for jam bands like Widespread Panic and The Grateful Dead, and you have The Bar Tab Band. A blue collar rock and roll band which speaks the language of life in the Midwest with telecaster twang and hillbilly stomp. Bar Tab formed in 2003 and were soon playing at a host of great Wisconsin bars and clubs. BTB had the opportunity to play some outdoor festies since emerging on the scene, including The Grickle Grass Jam and The Grateful Garcia Gathering which featured Melvin Seals and The Jerry Garcia Band, along with some of the finest jam bands in the Midwest. We traveled throughout the state and have been writing a few tunes along the way. Troy brings an enthusiasm for bluegrass and gritty country-rock together with a voice as deep and dark as a holler' and provides the acoustic guitar and mandolin. David's playing makes it seem as though his guitar is trying to hurt him, and it's all he can do to avoid injury every night, which makes him holler lyrics with reckless abandon. The Right Honorable Judge Clay oversees the rich textural rhythmic moodscapes of The BTB, and would like us to play more Dylan. A fine idea, Tom! With Jerry and Scott laying down a groove that mixes Jazz and Rock with raw aggression, this band will force you to dance and be constantly HAVING A GOOD TIME! This band would not be without the loyalty of the fantastic folks who come down to dance and have a good time and celebrate the shared experience that happens when a live band truly feeds off the energy of an audience. Thanks a lot, We Love Y'all!

The Funeral

A funeral service is being held in a synagogue for a woman who has just

passed away. At the end of the service, the pallbearers are carrying the

casket out when they accidentally bump into a wall jarring the casket.

They hear a faint moan. They open the casket and find that the woman is

actually alive.

She lives for 10 more years and then dies.

A ceremony is again held at the same synagogue and at the end of the

service the pallbearers are again carrying out the casket.

As they are walking, the husband cries out, "Don't hit the wall!!"

Lawyers should never ask a Georgia grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer.

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know me?' She responded, 'Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you'll never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.'

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, 'Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?'

She again replied, 'Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him.' The defense attorney nearly died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very quiet voice, said,

'If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair.

Today in Rock

1950's   Carl Palmer (Carl Frederick Kendall Palmer) enters the world. Following a stint in The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, the drummer lends his name and talents to Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Asia. 1950

Guitarist Jimmie Vaughan (Fabulous Thunderbirds) starts his life in Dallas, TX. Yes, he’s the older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan. 1951

1960's  Drummer Slim Jim Phantom, of The Stray Cats, is a new arrival. 1961

Elvis Presley conducts his first post-Army recording session. The hit "Stuck On You" is one of the tracks. 1960

Presley’s “Surrender” is #1 on the pop chart. 1961

Pays to be British. Eric Clapton and Buffalo Springfield’s Neil Young, Jim Messina and Richie Furay are busted for “being at a place where it is suspected marijuana is being used.” Clapton is later found innocent but Furay, Young, Messina and others have to pay a small fine. 1968

1970's

David Bowie

David and Angela Bowie are married. A match not exactly made in heaven. They met at a press reception for King Crimson’s “The Court of King Crimson” album. 1970

Written by Kris Kristofferson, Janis Joplin’s version of “Me And Bobby McGee” is #1 on the U.S. singles survey. 1971

The Iron Butterfly’s “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” slips off the Billboard album chart after a 138 week run. 1971

Boz Scaggs’ “Silk Degrees” featuring “Lowdown” hits the charts. It’s his seventh solo album and the first to go platinum. 1976

Bad Company release “Young Blood.” 1976

1980's  All-American

. 1982

Joan Jett is #1 on the pop chart with her classic, "I Love Rock ‘N Roll." 1982

1990's CBS Records loses its $20million lawsuit against Boston’s Tom Scholz. The label claims Scholz failed to fulfill contract obligations (10 albums in 5 years). Of course, Scholz countersues for unpaid royalties. Next stop for Boston - MCA. 1990

Garbage perform on Saturday Night Live. 1999

2000's Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) and surprise guest James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) appear at the Bring 'Em Home concert, marking the third anniversary of the United States-led invasion of Iraq. The event is held at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. 2006

While on tour in Peru, Carlos Santana slams the United States' decision to wage war in Iraq. "I try to present a dimension that brings harmony and healing. My concept is the opposite of George W. Bush," says Santana. "There is more value in placing a flower in a rifle barrel than making war." 2006

Aerosmith's "Walk This Way" tops the U.K. chart. Unfortunately, it's not the group's version but a cover by girl groups, Sugababes and Girls Aloud. It's one of those charity singles. 2007

Founding Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship singer-guitarist Paul Kantner is sued for trademark infringement by former band mate Grace Slick and ex-manager Bill Thompson. Kantner, who often performed with fellow Airplane/Starship member Mary Balin, used the Jefferson Starship moniker in apparent violation of a '85 settlement. Slick and Thompson let it slide until Kantner’s band crossed the line, at least according to the plaintiffs, by signing a lucrative sponsorship deal involving Microsoft. 2007

During a concert in Glasgow, Velvet Revolver's Scott Weiland announces to the audience that they are witnessing "the last tour" by the group. Later, the vocalist argues with a sound person before storming off the stage. "(We) had a little band (turmoil) onstage as you probably all could tell," writes drummer Matt Sorum in a blog post. Turns out Weiland was dead-on, at least in regard to his involvement with the band. 2008

Smashing Pumpkins announce that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has left the group. The departure leaves frontman Billy Corgan as the only remaining original member. "I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don't fully possess," Chamberlin writes online. "I won't pretend I'm into something I'm not. I won't do it to myself, you the fan or my former partner [frontman Billy Corgan]." A Pumpkins' statement says, "Corgan will continue to write and record as Smashing Pumpkins." 2009

Mötley Crüe play their single “White Trash Circus” on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tyler Connolly (Theory Of A Deadman), Ryan McCombs (Drowning Pool) and John Allen (Charm City Devils), the frontmen for bands on the Crue Fest 2 tour, add their vocal talents. 2009

Metallica performs at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. The group celebrates the release of the Guitar Hero: Metallica video game. 2009

Tinted Windows with Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, singer Taylor Hanson of Hanson and bassist Adam Schlesinger from Fountains Of Wayne make their live debut at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin. 2009

2010's “Lucifer Rising And Other Sound Tracks,” Jimmy Page’s early ‘70’s home studio recordings of avant garde music, is available on the former Led Zeppelin guitarist’s website. 2012

A press conference to announce a KISS/Motley Crue co-headlining North American tour blasts R&B diva Rihanna. "We're sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them," proclaims Simmons, implying that KISS and Crue deliver a real concert experience. "No karaoke singers allowed. No fake bullsh-t. Leave that to Rihanna-Schimianna and everybody else whose name ends with an 'A’." 2012

U2’s Bono is the only musician to land on Forbes magazine's Top 10 Most Influential Celebrities list. Bono is eighth, behind Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg but ahead of Suze Orman and Clint Eastwood. 2013

“I still miss him,” Yoko Ono tweets on what would have been the 44th anniversary of her marriage to John Lennon (see above). The tweet includes an image of the bloodied glasses Lennon was wearing when he was shot to death on 12/08/80. Ono also includes a plea to end gun violence. 2013
